In BlendVision One, you need to define your VOD output resolution and bitrate by adding the profiles as ProfileSet. It will define the codec and streaming protocol of your encoding output for each VOD. BlendVision One provides the ability for you to easily produce adaptive streaming by customizing your owned ProfileSets or directly using the optimal presets we provide.
In this article, we’ll introduce how to create and manage your own custom ProfileSets to optimize the output of encoded video.
Before we start
In order to manage the custom ProfileSets, you need to access VOD ProfileSet list on BlendVision One Web Console first.
You can click “General Settings” → “VOD ProfileSets” on the left sidebar to access the list as below:
Then refer to sections below, for the detailed steps to manage your custom ProfileSets:
Note: BlendVision One also provide multiple presets that you can directly use for VOD encoding, refer to VOD ProfileSets for the preset list we provide.
Add custom ProfileSets
Here are the detailed steps to create your custom ProfileSets:
Start creating
1. Press “Add ProfileSet” button shown on VOD ProfileSets list, to start creating a new ProfileSet.
2. In the creating page, you need to set up below configuration, to define the output format:
- ProfileSet Name to define the display name.
- ProfileSet Configuration to define the video codec and streaming protocol.
- Audio tracks to define the audio tracks and their information.
- Profiles to define the resolution, frame rate, and bitrate.

3. Fill in “ProfileSet Name” for the new ProfileSet, then start to set up the configuration.
- Max: 30 characters for “ProfileSet Name”
- It’ll be the display name in the selecting options when you choose the ProfileSets for new VOD.

4. Set up “Video Codec” and the streaming communications protocols

Select the video codec type from: “H.264 | AVC” or “H.265 | HEVC”
- This is a single-choice option, and will also affect the selectable profiles. It’s not allowed to apply the profiles of both H.264 and H.265 to the same ProfileSet.

Enable or disable the protocols from: “MPEG-DASH”(Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP) and “HLS”(HTTP Live Streaming)
- This is a multiple-choice option. BlendVision One allow you to output the encoded VOD with these 2 protocols to support the video streaming on most devices.
5. Enable or Disable “Smart ABR”
- Refer to Smart Adaptive Bitrate (SmartABR) Introduction for more information about what Smart ABR feature is and its benefit.
Audio tracks
6. Select the “Audio tracks” of output from below options:
- First Track: automatically select the first audio track as output.
- Same as Source File: the language code & display name of audio tracks will follow the metadata of your source file. (if you didn’t define it in the source files, it’ll show as undefined)

Custom: customize the audio tracks of output, and its language code/display name
- Click “Add Track” button to add new audio tracks: the maximum number is up to 10 audio tracks.
- Select the language code for each tracks, from the drop-down menu of “Language” option
- Fill in “Display Name” field for each tracks: it allows only English, Chinese, and Japanese letters.
- Click the delete icon shown on the right side of items, to delete the selected tracks.
Profiles
7. Select the preferred “Profiles” (up to 10 profiles) of output:

BlendVision One provide multiple prest profiles for selectable, and you can also create/delete your own profiles. Refer to Customize Profiles for more details about the preset profiles and profile management.
- Please be careful when permanently deleting customized profiles. It’ll also affect all custom ProfileSets even if you haven’t edit other ProfileSets.
- In All tab, you can confirm all selectable profiles and their details, then select your preferred profiles by checking or unchecking the checkboxes.
- In Selected tab, it will list your selected profiles, and you can uncheck profiles to remove them from the selection.
Save and submit the creation
8. After you complete the above configuration, please press “Save” button to submit the creation of new ProfileSets.
9. Once the creation is succeeded, you will be redirected to VOD ProfileSets list, and can confirm the created ProfileSets in All/Custom tab.
Then you can refer to Add a VOD, to check the steps on how to select the ProfileSet when adding a new VOD.
Edit custom ProfileSets
Here are the detailed steps to editing your custom ProfileSets:
Start editing
1. Click the ProfileSets shown on VOD ProfileSets list, to start editing selected ProfileSet.
2. In the editing page, you can edit all configuration (such as audio tracks or profiles):
- For the details of each configuration, please refer to the previous section: Add custom ProfileSets.
- There are some cautions when you editing the custom ProfileSets:
- The preset ProfileSets are uneditable. You can still confirm their configurations via their editing page, then create another custom ProfileSets with the similar settings.
- The previous encoded VODs won’t apply the new configuration you edited. In order to encode your VOD with new configurations, please create new VOD and select the edited ProfileSets.
- Please be careful when permanently deleting the customized profile, it will automatically be removed from all custom ProfileSets even if you haven’t edited other ProfileSets. For more details, refer to Customize Profiles
Save and submit the edited result
3. After you complete the above configuration, please press “Save” button to submit the edited result.
4. The confirmation message will display, please press “Save” button to continue the submission.
5. Once the submission is succeeded, you will be redirected to VOD ProfileSets list, and can confirm the edited ProfileSets in All/Custom tab.
Then you can refer to Add a VOD, to check the steps on how to select the ProfileSet when adding a new VOD.
Delete custom ProfileSets
Before deleting ProfileSets, please confirm the cautions below:
- The preset ProfileSets are not allowed to be deleted.
- Once you delete the custom ProfileSet, it will be unable to be canceled.
- The deletion won’t impact the encoded VOD with deleted ProfileSets.
Here are the detailed steps to permanently delete your custom ProfileSets:
1. Find the item you want to delete in the VOD ProfileSets list, then click the delete icon shown in the right side.
2. The confirmation message will display. Press “Delete” button to continue the deletion.
3. Once the submission is succeeded, you will be redirected to VOD ProfileSets list, and can confirm the deleted ProfileSets are removed from All/Custom tab.
- Your customized profiles won’t be deleted with the ProfileSets. You can still use them in other custom ProfileSets. Refer to Customize Profiles for more details of managing the customized profiles.
